It’s been a good few weeks. There was tension in me that I couldn’t handle properly, but through communication and empathy it evaporated and the calm has set. The Arena is closing…its current location 🙂 It’s official now: September is the month of joy! The shop will retain its identity and expand to a better version of itself, a version that was supposed to happen from the start…Better late than never though, and better for the city of Ingolstadt and its gaming community that in the near future, there will be a place incomparable to any other game shop from the area and perhaps even from much farther away. Yes, I am hyping it up. It’s my shop that will become our shop as I found a business partner that understands my philosophy of “how to Adrian” 🙂 I am overjoyed with feelings of “hard work does pay off”. Days of working 12 hours or more, sacrificing personal free days for tournaments like the Preliminary Pro Tour Qualifier yesterday, all lead to this moment when things are starting to take a beautiful shape. I am proud. Fuck yeah I’m proud. I started from nothing…There’s a story of a 10€ bill that I will share with you on a different occasion because right now it’s hype time: THE ARENA IS GOING BIGGER!
I am the kind of person who likes to prepare things ahead of time and then amaze everyone with what the result is. I didn’t do that in the start with the store. Proof is this picture where the shelves were considerably empty compared to what is happening now. But that guy next to me helped me get off the ground and baby I am enjoying the ride as much as I can.
So what can I tell you about the new store? Not much for now. It will have 2 levels. The original Arena will be transported on one of these levels with the other level breathing life into the original concept. A good friend of mine dubbed the new place “The Tavern”. I could get used to that name 🙂 It is important to get inspiration from such upstanding people of our society. This is him here in his natural environment:
There is much and more to expect from the new store. I wanted to write that it is dependant on other factors as well that could influence the well-structured idea that I had. But I am no longer alone now. And I am not scared to face any challanges that come my way. It will work out, because there is nothing else that I accept as a natural progression of a series of very fortunate events. There is a team now, working for the growth of what is going to be one of the best game stores that you have ever step foot in. There’s Ghost, Duke, Morningstar and myself of course. No, I didn’t make these people up and neither am I hallucinating 😀 I will always be thankful for everyone who helped in any capacity. I am repaying each and every one by giving you a bigger, better place where you can spend your free time. I hope I will make you all proud. I am doing it for all of us who love games, the ones who get that one specific rush when we know we have to…top deck….that one card….;)
Some of you might know I have started playing YGO a lot more than MtG for a while now. I am having a lot of fun doing it and I am getting a lot of inspiration for the Arena from playing this gem of a game. It’s been a blast and there is a lot of work to be done in the future, but for now I will kick back, relax and enjoy the summer from riding on my big badass Dragon with Crystal Wings.
See you in the Arena!
